Gobs sipped the last of his drink and let out a satisfied smack of the lips. “Hit me with another one of those delicious whiskey sours!” he screeched at the barman standing opposite him, to which the man nodded approvingly and set off about doing so. Gobs turned around on his stool, draped his arms across the bar counter and inspected the interior of his favourite watering hole with satisfaction.

Suddenly three members of his crew burst into the bar carrying a much worse looking fourth member between them. “Keanu’s been shot!” squealed the youngest of them. They laid him down roughly on a bar stool and his blood soaked back landed where Gobs’ left arm was still resting. “Oh god, he’s going to die isn’t he?”

“Not on my watch!” shrieked Gobs, hastily pulling his arm out from under Keanu and sending him flying unceremoniously towards the floor. Luckily Gobs knew exactly what to do.

“Barman! Put on the funkiest tune you can find in that record collection of yours!” The barman obeyed immediately, having already dropped the whiskey sour he had been making earlier. As the room exploded with sound Gobs got off his barstool and stood over Keanu’s crumpled body, creasing his face as he summoned all his strength.

“YEEEEAAAH!”

He cried, and a powerful beam of pure funk shot out from his forehead and into Keanu whose body started spasming as if electrocuted. This lasted 10 awesome seconds before Gobs’ cry subsided, the beam faded, and Keanu, still gasping for breath, exclaimed:

“The Funk… Saved My Life!”
